Car rental prices at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport peak during July and August as well as school holidays. Outside peak season, you can find excellent prices, especially if you book 2–4 weeks in advance. Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is France's largest airport and offers 15 rental companies on-site – one of Europe's best selections right at arrival.
The airport is located 25 km northeast of Paris city center and is connected to the city via RER B, motorways A1 and A3. With a rental car from here, you reach Paris city in about 30–45 minutes and Versailles in about 50 minutes. CDG is divided into three terminals (1, 2, and 3) and rental stations are located in Terminal 2 and in the central rental hub Roissypole.
Check which terminal your flight arrives at to minimize internal transfers. Avoid rush hour traffic to Paris (07:00–09:30 and 17:00–19:30) – consider driving via the A104 toward the east instead of directly via the A1. Check if your rental company is part of the Roissypole hub for a smoother pickup.
Book in advance during peak season (June–August) – with 15 rental companies there are good prices but vehicles sell out quickly. Where do I pick up my rental car at CDG? Most rental companies are located together in the Roissypole building, accessible by free shuttle bus from all terminals.
Some rental companies have their own desks in Terminal 2. How long does it take to drive from CDG to the Eiffel Tower? About 35–45 km via the A1 and Périphérique, which takes 40–60 minutes depending on traffic.
Can I return the car at another location in France? Yes, most of the 15 rental companies offer one-way rentals to locations such as Lyon, Marseille, or Nice, often for an additional fee.
