Puerto Natales is the base town for visiting Torres del Paine National Park and is located on the Última Esperanza fjord in Chilean Patagonia. Rent an SUV or 4x4 – the roads inside Torres del Paine National Park are gravel and can be difficult to navigate. Book your rental car well in advance during high season from November to February when demand is extreme. Fill up at Puerto Natales before heading to the park – there are no gas stations inside Torres del Paine.

Can I drive a rental car into Torres del Paine National Park? Yes, it's possible and a popular option. The roads are mostly gravel and require a vehicle with good ground clearance.

Parking is available at several trailheads such as Lago Grey and Las Torres. How far is it from Puerto Natales to El Calafate in Argentina? It's approximately 230 km and 3 hours via the Paso Laurita-Casas Viejas border crossing.
