Paracatu is a historic gold rush town in northwestern Minas Gerais, located 220 km northwest of Brasília along BR-040, and is known for housing one of the world's largest open-pit gold mines. With a rental car you can reach Brasília in 2.5 hours and Uberlândia in 3 hours via BR-365. The town is an interesting stop along the route between the capital and Triângulo Mineiro.
