Corcovado National Park's La Leona entrance is reached 43 km south via a partially challenging road. Matapalo Point with world-class surfing is 30 km south of Puerto Jiménez. The ferry across Golfo Dulce to Golfito departs from the town pier and takes approximately 1.5 hours.

Four-wheel drive is absolutely necessary – the roads south on the peninsula are unpaved and can be impassable during rainy season. Always fill up with a full tank in Puerto Jiménez as there are no gas stations further south. Book your car well in advance during high season from December to April.
