Jacó center is compact and pedestrian-friendly with restaurants, surf shops and nightlife along Avenida Pastor Díaz. Drive north 15 km to Carara National Park early in the morning for the best chance to see scarlet macaws.

About 120 km via Route 27 (Caldera Highway), taking approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes under normal traffic conditions. Do I need 4WD in the Jacó area? Not for Jacó center or Manuel Antonio, but to reach Playa Bejuco or inland toward Turrubares, higher ground clearance is recommended.
