Skiathos town is the island's only urban center and the hub for shopping, restaurants and nightlife. The harbor is bustling with ferries to Volos and Thessaloniki plus water taxis to beaches. Avoid driving in the center during high season – park on the outskirts and walk in. Drive west along the southern coast road early in the morning for the best beaches before they fill up. Lalaria Beach is only accessible by boat – park at Kastro (15 km) and take a water taxi from there.
