Skukuza is Kruger National Park's largest and most well-known rest camp, located along the Sabie River in the park's southwestern section. Skukuza serves as Kruger's administrative center with shops, restaurant, bank and gas stations inside the camp. Paul Kruger Gate, the most trafficked entrance, is 12 km west. From here it's easy to reach the best wildlife areas along H1-1 and H4-1 along the rivers.

Always maintain 50 km/h and never stop outside the vehicle – the park's rules are strict and the animals are wild. Always refuel in Skukuza – the next station can be 60–80 km away inside the park. Drive along H4-1 toward Lower Sabie early in the morning for the best chances of seeing leopard and lion.
